A CEO and His “Toaster Moment”
We wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for a $135 toaster order that crossed the desk of our CEO and founder, George Spears. This wasn’t just any order, it was a 27-page fax from a buyer scoping out the order paperwork, from soup to nuts. That’s right, 27 pages for a simple toaster order. “There has to be a better way,” George exclaimed. And that was the spark of an idea. To fix the broken commercial equipment B2B sales, order management, and marketing in industries with two-step distribution models. .

Those Who Came Before Us
Great ideas have their roots in those who came before us. One of our goals at Atero has been to create an Amazon-like buying experience for the commercial equipment industry. We’ve come to expect fast, efficient, online ordering, with features such as easily searchable products, accessory recommendations, favorites, preferred delivery dates, and other features typical of ecommerce platforms, that until now have been lacking in our industry.
Another missing link in the industries we serve is integrating real-time product information into the mix so cusotmers can be assured that they are making decisions based on the latest, most up-to-date information, and dealers and manufacturers can stop wasting precious time on non-productive activities (e.g. sales reps digging up catalogs from the car, making multiple calls to confirm pricing, etc.).
